Valve chest
Moving on, the next item was the valve chest, the faces were cleaned up in the 4 jaw chuck and the stud pattern laid out using the DRO.
The exhaust stub was next, Just a straight turning job but it needed flats milling on 2 sides to clear the valves. I used a Stevenson collet block to hold the stub and it made it easy to index 180°.
The valves were next, they needed a pocket milling out, I roughed it out with a large end mill and then cleaned the corners out with a 3mm cutter. Flipped over and the grooves cut for the valve rod and cross nut.
A few 2BA studs had to be made and then I could assemble it all.
