Building a Clayton 2" Scale Steam Wagon

Main Bearings
The Main bearing housings are of steel, they split at the sump line, with one half being bolted to the cranckcase sides. To profile the curve I used the 'R' function on the DRO which allowed me to machine the shape using the X & Z axis co-ordinates. I set the DRO to take 0.010" increments, which just left a rough surface that was easily dressed to shape. I then machined the pocket and made the bottom bearing half. The complicated shape is to allow for the sump flange. All will become clearer on the next page when you will see it in place.
I fastened the 2 halves together and then bored them for the bearings.
