Steering Links
Having completed the chassis and front axle my attention turned to the king pins and steering arms and links.
The arms and crank could have been fabricated by silver soldering round stock to flat bar, but I decided to machine them from solid. I made a jig up to hold them so I could turn them on the lathe to remove the bulk of the metal, just leaving enough to clean up with a file. The same jig was used for the crank arm. It was then a matter of turning up various pins and making links and clevis' The arms were silver soldered to the king pins. The stub axles were turned from square stock and they are secured to the king pins with socket hear grub screws. The idler bracket is a casting and just needed cleaning up and it pivots in the spring shackle. The video should make it obvious how it all works.
